KIT SIANG PROPOSES CONVENTION ON NEW SOCIOECONOMIC INFRASTRUCTURE.
IPOH, March 10 (Bernama) -- DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang has proposed that the government organises a national convention involving various groups including the opposition to fomulate a new sosioeconomic infrastructure for the next 50 years. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should take the initiative to strive for a consensus in mapping out a new direction in the country's policies. "The election results are a clear indication of the people's disapproval of the Barisan Nasional (BN) polices in the administration. "As such, we need a new programme for all races. Abdullah, BN, and Umno have to respond to the feedback from the people through the ballots," Lim told a press conference at the Perak DAP office, here today. The people had indicated that the government had to formulate policies which were fair and equitable to all races and religions, and practice prudent administration, he added. -- BERNAMA RAS MB AO
